Istanbul is located at a point that connects Asia and Europe. This means that Istanbul has many places that you can explore on two different continents. The touristic center of Istanbul is usually the European side where Hagia Sophia, Taksim Square and Sultanahmet Mosque are located.

However to see the real Istanbul, you have to explore the Asian side! First you need to know how to get to the Asian side of Istanbul. For those who are unfamiliar with the city, getting to the Asian side can be a bit confusing.

I have been living in Istanbul for years. I will tell you how to get to the Anatolian side of Istanbul with the best, fastest and cheapest ways. I also answer questions such as how to get to Kadikoy, Uskudar… let’s start!

  1. Hello gorgeous 🙂 ! Very well written thankyou very much! I have a question.
During this time of covid, how to travel from sultan ahmet to anatolian side of istanbul? I dont want crowded metros. Also travelling with luggage (4 bags). And i will be changing 3 hotels in 9 days. Which taxis are best? Kiwi, uber ?? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Fara!

I dont recomend you to use taxi from european to asian 🙂 it may take more than 2-3 hour… From sultanahmet with t1 tram you can easily go to the Sirkeci marmaray suburban station and after its just 5 min to go asian side districs such as kadikoy, uskudar.

If you want to use taxi you can use “bitaksi” app and please try to avoid peak traffic hours, have a nice trip!
